Second Annual

Minority Health Summit

Advancing Health Equity for All

April 10, 2025 | 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Chase Center on the Riverfront, Wilmington, DE

Join us for Delaware’s 2nd Annual Minority Health Summit, a powerful and purposeful event designed to improve health equity across the state. Hosted by the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce and co-sponsored by Novo Nordisk, Delaware Health and Human Services, and other community partners, this summit is a statewide call to action to eliminate health disparities and uplift underserved communities.

For The Community

1. Health Equity and Access:
Minority communities often face disparities in healthcare access, quality, and outcomes. A health summit helps address these disparities by providing access to health resources, free screenings, and educational information about available health services and programs. It ensures that everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, has the opportunity to prioritize their health.

2. Awareness and Empowerment:
The summit educates individuals about preventive care, early detection, and resources available to them. This empowers attendees to make informed health decisions and take charge of their well-being, which can have long-term positive effects on their lives and the community at large.

3. Promoting Cultural Sensitivity in Health Care:
Minority communities may face unique health challenges and cultural barriers when interacting with healthcare providers. The summit offers a platform for healthcare professionals to better understand these challenges and improve cultural competency, fostering a more inclusive and empathetic approach to health care.

4. Building Stronger Community Networks:
Bringing the community together through a health-focused event encourages collaboration among individuals, organizations, and institutions, fostering
stronger relationships. This can lead to more community-based health initiatives and programs that benefit everyone.

For Business Owners

1. Networking and Partnership Opportunities:
The summit provides business owners, especially minority-owned businesses, with opportunities to connect with healthcare providers, government agencies, and other organizations. These connections can lead to valuable partnerships, collaborations, and potential business growth.

2. Increased Visibility and Community Engagement:
Participating in or sponsoring a health summit increases a business’s visibility within the community, showing its commitment to public health and social responsibility. This not only strengthens the business’s reputation but also builds goodwill and trust within the community, which can translate to customer loyalty and business success.

3. Promoting Employee Health and Well-being:
Business owners can learn about wellness initiatives and health programs that they can implement in their workplaces to support their employees. Healthy employees are more productive, engaged, and satisfied, which ultimately benefits the business’s bottom line.

4. Enhancing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR):
By supporting a Minority Health Summit, businesses demonstrate their commitment to corporate social responsibility (CS), particularly in addressing
health equity issues. This can improve a company’s image and appeal to socially conscious customers, employees, and stakeholders.

5. Education on Health Benefits and Insurance Options:
Business owners can gain insight into the types of health insurance and benefits available for their employees, as well as how to support their teams in accessing these benefits. This contributes to better workforce retention and attracts top talent who value a supportive, health-conscious employer.
